Just outside the market building in Taipo, a big banner exhorts those reading it to "Support Our Police". It appears from the two-hands logo in the corner to have been erected by the objectionable Robert Chow's Alliance for Sleaze and Hypocrisy. And there lies the problem: if they are "our" police, who are we? Any police force that Robert Chow (still claiming to speak for the mythical Silent Majority despite opinion polls showing support for the government shrinking to well below 50%) claims proprietorial rights over is certainly not my police force.
The Hong Kong government is trying to frame a political problem as a law and order problem, which means the police are being forced into a political role - defending an unpopular, unelected and unrepresentative government - that should not be their job. And the recent attack on TVB and RTHK journalists by the "Support Our Police" blue-ribbon mob suggests they don't have much idea what the police should really be doing - keeping the peace. A peace that is mostly being disturbed by those claiming to support the police.

PB,
I wonder if there is a bounty on Mr Robert Chow Yung's (周融) head. If not, any chance to start one and hire someone to obtain it? :p
Are you offering one? He's more likely to end up in the NPPCC - there's a newly-opened vacancy there.
Please support the revolution in every small way you can, avoid these businesses that directly support Beijing-HK gov't-CY Leung and billionaire tycoons:
- Avoid patronage of anything to any malls or major shopping centre, *except in HK public estates and cha chaan tengs*.
- Avoid shopping at chains such as below: Watsons, Manning, Cafe de Coral, Maxims, Victoria Harbour Restaurant Group, Fairwood, Pacific Coffee Company, Espirit, TaoHeung Restaurant Group, Park n' Shop, Wellcome, Chinese Resources Vanguard (CR Vanguard), Citistore, Saint Honore Cake Shop, Circle K
- Avoid banking with anyone other than Standard Chartered and Citigroup.
- Avoid buying literature from everyone except mom-and-pop stores, Apple Daily Media Group
- Avoid any major hotels chains in the Asia Region
- Avoid any flights operated PRC Chinese airlines, including Singarpore and Cathay Pacific Airlines.
- Avoid doing business like: Air Canada, Swiss Re, FWD Financial, PetroChina, Sinopec, Emperor Group
- These billionaires also controls most telephone, mobile, and ISP companies as well as the MTR, Gas and Electric companies, all HK Milk/Ice-Cream/Dairy production (Dairy Farm)
Nice theory, but you're pretty much saying "avoid living in Hong Kong"! And I would like to know your selection criteria - Citigroup is not the most ethical of banks; it's part of the Wall Street war machine.
