Carrie Lam, Chief Waitress
at the Hong Kong Restaurant, announced today that customers at the restaurant would
be consulted over the next six weeks on how they would like their steak cooked. Asked by reporters “what about customers who might
prefer eggs or seafood instead of steak?”, Lam replied that the signature dish “Palace
Museum Steak” – a small-scale copy of a recipe originated by the restaurant
group’s head chef in Beijing – was the only item on the menu, and in any case
an expert chef had already been secretly hired months ago to prepare the dish.
Following Lam’s
announcement, Head Waiter CY Leung stated that he welcomed the consultation
exercise – but whatever the outcome, the restaurant would "move on and cook the dish" anyway. So there!
